City Council Election for May 6th canceled

Certificate of unopposed candidates

Last evening at the March 15th City Council meeting, the City Council passed an ordinance canceling the May 6th election and declaring the unopposed candidates as elected to office on May 6th. The General Election was to elect a Mayor and Council Members for 3 seats on the City Council.  (The adoption of the Home Rule Charter brought an additional seat on the City Council.)  The deadline to file for a place on the May 6, 2023 Oak Point General Election ballot was on Friday, February 17th.   The following people  filed for a place on the ballot:  Dena Meek for Mayor, David Klewicki for Council Member, Paul Bastaich for Council Member, Greg Weiler for Council Member.  Since the number of candidates is the same as the number of open seats, there is no need to hold an election.  At the May 17, 2023 City Council meeting, these candidates will take their place on the City Council.
