Boards & Commissions
The Oak Point City Council encourages all citizens to participate in the decision-making aspects of the community by serving as a member on one of the City's boards/commissions. Boards/commissions are made up of volunteers that advise the City Council on policy development and administration of services. Appointments are made each year by the City Council as member terms expire.
Residents desiring to serve are encouraged to apply. An application form (PDF) is available, or you may contact the City Secretary at 972-294-2312.

Board of Adjustment
The Board of Adjustment (BOA) is responsible for hearing and determining appeals where there is an alleged error on any order, requirement, decision or determination made by an administrative official in the enforcement of the Zoning Ordinance. The BOA may also hear and decide on requests for variances from certain terms and regulations of the Zoning Ordinance.

EDC Board of Directors
The Economic Development Corporation (EDC) consists of seven members that serve to promote Oak Point in order to attract new businesses to the City. They also advise the City Council and staff on funding incentives.

Municipal Development District Board of Directors
The Board of the Oak Point Municipal Development District Board of Directors consists of seven members that recommend funding of authorized projects to the City Council.

Parks & Recreation Commission
The Parks and Recreation Commission is made up of five at-large members that serve in an advisory capacity to assist the City with the development of park lands and park projects within the City.

Planning & Zoning Commission
The Planning and Zoning Commission consists of seven members appointed by the City Council. The Commission provides recommendations to the City Council regarding zoning and platting requests.
