Service to Our Community

The Department currently provides public safety services to approximately 24,000-30,000 people (service dependent) within the city limits and areas adjacent to the City limits which are unincorporated areas of Denton County. The contracts for these services allow our citizens to enjoy an increased level of service and protection.

The Oak Point Police Department strives for a safe and fair City by incorporating community policing into all facets of department operations and remedy issues that create crime and disorder through relationships with our citizens by pioneering strategic innovation. 

Mission Statement

It is the mission of the Oak Point Police Department to safeguard the lives and property of the people we serve. We work in a complex, dynamic environment which presents a multitude of challenges daily. Every decision that is made has the potential to profoundly affect lives. We have a responsibility to perform our duties with honor and integrity at the highest level. We must apply and enforce the laws of our land fairly and without prejudice. We aim to serve our city with compassion, for we only exist because of our citizens.

Service to Our Citizens

We are dedicated to enhancing public safety and reducing crime and the fear of crime. People in our communities are the makeup of our City. Our motto “To Protect and to Serve” is not just a slogan – it is our way of life. We will work in partnership with our citizens and do our best, within the law, to solve community issues that affect public safety. We value the great diversity of people in both our residential and business communities and serve all with equal dedication.

We have been given the honor and privilege of enforcing the law. We must always exercise integrity in the use of the power and authority that have been given to us by the people. Our personal and professional behavior should be a model for all to follow. We will obey and support the letter and spirit of the law.
