Proposed Home Rule Charter

On June 21, 2021, Oak Point City Council adopted a Resolution 2021-06-018R to appoint 16 members to a Home-Rule Charter Commission to study, draft, and propose a Home-Rule Charter for submission to the eligible voters of the City of Oak Point at a Special Election.  The Commission held their first meeting on August 4, 2021 and over the course of the next 10 months, they worked diligently to create the proposed Home-Rule Charter.  At the May 18, 2022 City Council Meeting, the Oak Point City Council received the proposed Home-Rule Charter and adopted Ordinance 2022-05-560 ordering a Special Election for Tuesday, November 8, 2022.  If you are registered to vote in the City of Oak Point, you will receive a mailed copy of the proposed Home-Rule Charter at least 30 days prior to the election per Texas Local Government Code §9.003 (b).  The proposed Home-Rule Charter is also available on this webpage for viewing and printing.
