Permitting & Inspection Requirements
Establishments that offer food must obtain a Food Establishment Permit and must be inspected on a bi-annual basis by the City of Oak Point to verify that the food serving establishment meets both City and State health standards. Examples of these establishments include:
- Convenience Stores
- Daycare
- Grocery Stores
- Restaurants
- Schools
Regulation
New food serving establishments must submit plans to the City to verify that the establishment meets current standards relating to:
- Equipment
- Floorings
- Grease Traps and Interceptors
- Outdoor Enclosures
- Outside Storage Receptacles
- Restrooms
- Sinks
- Utensils and Fixtures
- Wall and Ceiling Finishes
- Other Items

The amount of the Permit fee is dependent upon the type of the food establishment. After the Application is submitted, an inspection of the food establishment by the City’s Health Inspector will be scheduled.
Permitting & Inspection Requirements
Mobile Food Units, Mobile Food Vendors, and Temporary Food Establishments (Temporary Event Vendors) must obtain a permit and must be inspected on a bi-annual basis by the City of Oak Point to verify compliance with certain food safety requirements.
Mobile Food Units
Mobile Food Units are defined as a vehicle mounted food establishment designed to be readily movable. Mobile Food Units typically move from point of sale to point of sale, not stationary in any location for greater than 15 minutes. Mobile Food Units that have passed inspection must display the following documentation. Mobile units without a visible permit placard issued by the City of Oak Point displaying the vehicle identification number and the permit expiration date are not approved to sell food in the City of Oak Point.
Mobile Food Vendors
Mobile Food Vendors are defined as any person who operates or sells food from a stationary cart, or trailer mounted on chassis, but without an engine for a period of 15 days or greater per year. Mobile food vendors who operate for 14 days or less shall be considered temporary food establishments, as defined by the Food Service Sanitation Ordinance as it exists or may be amended. Mobile food vendors must comply with the Food Service Sanitation Ordinance.
Mobile food vendors must operate at a specific location only within the same operation hours as the business on the same lot that has a Certificate of Occupancy. Outside of the business operation hours, the Mobile Food vending unit must be removed or stored away. Mobile food vendors may not operate in City parks without City approval.

Oak Point, TX 75068Permits fees for Mobile Food Units are $300 for “Hot” trucks (units with a kitchen on the vehicle) and $200 for “Cold” trucks (units with no kitchen on the vehicle). After the application is submitted, an inspection of the mobile food unit by the City’s Health Inspector will be scheduled.
Temporary Food Establishments
Temporary Food Establishments (Temporary Event Vendors) are defined as food establishments that operate for a period of no more than 14 consecutive days in conjunction with a single event or celebration. Temporary Food Establishments must obtain a Health Permit. Please note that permit applications must be received a minimum of 10 business days prior to the event or celebration. Temporary Food Establishments permits are issued only for a specific event or celebration and for limited food items to be sold during a limited time.

The permit fee is $100 for each event or celebration. After the application is submitted, an inspection will be scheduled by the City’s Health Inspector.
